Dr. Altieri attended Colorado State University where she graduated with a B.S. in Microbiology and later graduated cum laude from CSU’s College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. Following graduation, she returned home to complete a rotating small animal internship at the Animal Medical Center in New York City and remained there to work for the ASPCA Animal Hospital for the next 10 years.

Her love of the outdoors called her back to Colorado in 2016 where she worked as a relief veterinarian while enjoying all that the mountains had to offer. Dr. Altieri is interested in shelter medicine and finds non-profit work very rewarding. She has spent time working, teaching and volunteering with many organizations including the Elephant Nature Park in Thailand, Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Utah, Paws of War in New York and Territorio de Zaguates in Costa Rica. During her free time, Dr. Altieri enjoys hiking, camping, snowboarding, live music and paddle boarding. She moved to Wilmington in 2024 and is looking forward to exploring the area's beaches and surrounding mountains.
